Placement Coordinator (Plymouth)

Dorset, Devon and Cornwall (DDC) Probation Services is a division of Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company (KSS CRC). KSS CRC, part of the Seetec Group, has probation divisions in Wales; Dorset, Devon and Cornwall; Kent, Surrey and Sussex; Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.


The purpose of this role is to monitor and review both projects and placements for offenders sentenced to a Community Payback requirement. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can identify, set up, supervise and manage these community-based work placements.


You must be able to engage and connect with service users, and be able to respond calmly to difficult situations. You will also need to communicate confidently and present information succinctly, both verbally and in writing.


Excellent organisation skills are vital as you will need to prioritise multiple tasks and work to deadlines.


UK Manual driving license is required as you may be required to transport service users to their placements via minibus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Match offenders of different risk levels to appropriate placements
  • Coordinate the scheduling/rescheduling of the groups in response to workload demands
  • Carry out work site supervision of offenders
  • Order tools and equipment required for each placement and schedule transport
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation in all aspects of the project/placement
  • Liaise with and establish effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Organise equipment for the day and complete associated paperwork daily
Skills and Experience
  • Able to think innovatively and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage groups and/or individuals
  • IT skills are essential
  • High level of DIY skills is beneficial
  • Able to communicate confidently, both verbally and in writing
  • Understanding of the role of the Probation Service within the Criminal Justice System
  • Able to maintain positive working relationships

Additional Information

Salary: £22,924 per annum pro rata

Location: Plymouth

Hours: Part time, 18.5 hours per week (working Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)

Closing Date: 30th April 2020
