Employment, Training & Education Job Coach (Poole)

Job Role

Dorset, Devon and Cornwall Community Rehabilitation Division (DDC) is part of the KSS CRC Probation. We provide a broad range of probation services for adult offenders on community orders or licenses. We focus on quality of practice to reduce re-offending, improve the safety of the communities we serve and improve the life chances of those within the Dorset, Devon and Cornwall (DDC) criminal justice system.

The role of Employment Training & Education (ETE) coach offers support and guidance to our Service User’s, exploring and encouraging their journey into employment by delivering training in 1-2-1 and group sessions, ensuring Service User’s understand the rehabilitation of offenders Act and the need to disclose to future employee’s.  

 

The role will also involve supporting the learning and recognition of where to find employment opportunities. Looking at the workings of partnership providers, such as Job Centre Plus and the promotion of employment opportunities with local and National employers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering 1-2-1 or group sessions to provide in-depth advice and support to service users for employment applications, job search skills, CV writing and preparing for interview, making full use of our internal suite of ETE interventions.
  • Action referrals received, providing motivational support and ensure performance targets are met to increasing employability and reducing re-offending of service users.
  • Develop strong partnership relationships and develop employment engagement relationships that will promote the recruitment of offenders.
  • Monitor, evaluate and support the development of the project by developing group workshops, supporting the needs of minority groups who maybe be disadvantaged or discriminated against and maintaining an effective electronic database to record and report on service user attendance and achievements.

Skills and Experience
  • Comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of employment and welfare to work services and issues.
  • Sound understanding of the issues around improving offender employability and employment.
  • Clear understanding of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Experience in placing disadvantaged people into work.
  • Comfortable in providing group training.
  • Ability to confidently engage constructively with service user’s, employers and business partners.
  • Confident in identifying and developing employer relationships.
  • Ability to produce and maintain accurate statistics
  • Competent in presentation skills, prioritising work and meeting deadlines

 

This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with service users supporting them back into work and helping to reduce re-offending.

Additional Information

 

Salary: £22,039 - £27,373 per annum (dependent on experience)

(Pay scale increase as of April 2020 £22,924 - £28,200 per annum)

Location: Poole

Hours: Part time - 18 hours a week, hours to be decided

Closing Date: 30th April 2020
