Volunteer Unit Coordinator - Criminal Justice Sector

KSS CRC has a well established volunteer unit hosting over 100 volunteers. In your role as Volunteer Unit Co-ordinator you will recruit, train and coach volunteer Mentors. You will work in close association with both the Volunteer Unit Manager and our Responsible Officers. The role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives, working in a fast paced and creative environment and engaging with our accredited volunteers and mentors. Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be experienced and passionate about working with and through people. You must have a proven track record in communicating with others and have excellent organisational and administrative skills.

 

You will support the development, co-ordination and delivery of the KSS CRC volunteer unit. This involves:

 

  • Sourcing, recruiting and training new Volunteer Mentors
  • Providing mentor supervision including risk management
  • Managing conflicting situations with individuals and in group situations
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to enable effective service delivery.
  • Ensuring boundaries are maintained and volunteers adhere to safe working procedures
  • Ensuring administrative procedures are followed and volunteer records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner.

Skills and Experience

 

We are looking for people with experience of working with vulnerable people, mentors or service users from the criminal justice system. You will need a proven track record in managing, developing and motiving others, with an understanding of group work delivery and presentation skills. You should also have experience in the assessment and management of risk and have the ability to make informed decisions, provide guidance and recognise the need to involve others.

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability toinitiate, maintain and develop effective working relationships internally and externally.

 

The successful candidate will have competent administration skills, good IT knowledge and the ability to organise and manage a varied workload with conflicting priorities, working on one’s own initiative as well as part of a small team. You will be able to think creatively and problem solve.

 

Applicants who have undertaken Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Sector (PTLLS) training are particularly welcomed, though this is not essential to the role.

Additional Information

Salary: Up to £27,373  per annum (dependent on experience)

 

Location: Brighton

 

Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week
