IT Field Engineer (SW England)

Job Role

We are currently recruiting an IT Field Engineer to provide exceptional IT support, ensuring 1st and 2nd line helpdesk calls raised in our management system ‘Ivanti’ are responded to efficiently.

 

Travelling between all our offices across South West England and work with our Support and Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot on site issues and install equipment and troubleshoot as necessary is all part of the role.

 

Our successful candidate will have fantastic customer service skills and have an excellent level of IT knowledge and the ability to prioritise workloads to ensure that customer needs are responded to efficiently. 

 

This role also supports with auditing assets on site, providing asset data to the asset team, completing site-based security/compliance audits and complete practical tasks on site to support the facilities team.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to helpdesk tickets generated through ‘Ivanti’
• Prioritise workload against business need
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in person, remotely, RDP and via phone
• Assist colleagues with installation, configuration and ongoing usability of system hardware and software
• Offer daily operations and systems support
• Verify functionality of hardware and software components
• Work with Infrastructure and Support teams to ensure that calls are responded to quickly and that calls are resolved
• Assist End Users with computer problems
• To travel between business sites, willing to be flexible in their working hours and location with some overnight stays if necessary
 

Skills and Experience

Essential

  •  2+ years’ experience on current network operating systems (Windows 10)
  •  3+ years’ experience in computer networks and systems maintenance
  •  Knowledge/experience of working within secure/government environments
  •  Knowledge of basic security principles
  •  Full clean car driving license with class to be able to drive a van
  •  Experience of using Microsoft Applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio
  •  Experience of using an IT Service Management system to manage, allocate and monitor support tasks – preferably Ivanti
  •  Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality required
  •  Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively in high-pressure situations

Desirable

  •  Understanding of IT principles and an ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience
  •  IT qualifications/Training such as MCP
  •  Experience of ISO 27001 principles/requirements
  •  Knowledge of ITIL principles
  •  Experience of using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Visio
  •  Experience in the use of a recognised helpdesk support tool to communicate with users and meet SLA’s
  •  Experience of meeting exacting SLA’s

Additional Information

Salary: £25,875 - £28,750 p.a.  (dependent on experience) .


Location: Flexible location but travel in SW England essential.  Travel to Hockley Essex on occasion.


Hours: 37 Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm - Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm
