Commercial Bid Modelling Lead
Job Role
We are looking for a commercially minded and analytically strong Commercial Bid Modelling Lead to join our Finance team. This is a specialist role for someone who can turn complex service, pricing and operational information into clear, decision-ready financial models that support major bids, rebids, contract extensions and commercial opportunities. Working remotely and reporting to the Associate Director of Finance, you will play a key role in shaping pricing, margin, affordability and risk decisions on strategically important opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
• Lead financial modelling for major bids, rebids, contract extensions, variations and other pricing opportunities.
• Build, adapt and maintain fit-for-purpose models covering areas such as pricing, margins, cash flow, mobilisation costs, inflation, overhead recovery and commercial risk.
• Translate service specifications, delivery models and commissioner requirements into robust financial assumptions and commercially useful outputs.
• Provide scenario analysis, sensitivity modelling and affordability assessments to support senior decision-making.
• Challenge assumptions constructively and identify financial risks, under-priced activity and cost pressures before submission.
• Present modelling outputs clearly to governance forums and senior stakeholders, focusing on key commercial decisions and trade-offs.
• Improve model usability, transparency and consistency by developing practical templates, controls and quality assurance processes.
• Support effective handover from bid to mobilisation and business-as-usual teams, ensuring key assumptions and pricing structures are understood.
Skills and Experience
You will bring strong commercial finance and modelling experience, ideally gained in bid pricing, tenders, contract pricing or complex commercial environments. You will be comfortable working to fixed deadlines, adapting quickly as requirements change, and communicating financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Qualified accountant, part-qualified accountant, or equivalent commercial finance experience.
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, including scenario and sensitivity analysis.
• Experience building models for bids, rebids, tenders, extensions or other complex pricing exercises.
• Strong understanding of profit and loss, cash flow, cost drivers, margins, working capital and commercial risk.
• The confidence to challenge assumptions and influence senior stakeholders constructively.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
• Ideally, experience of public-sector tenders, government-funded contracts, open-book environments or outsourced service delivery.
