Health, Safety and Welfare Officer (Flexible Location)

Join Seetec Outsource in this new established role as a Health, Safety and Welfare officer to provide support services to learners across the business pillar.  You will be supporting apprentices, trainees and adult learners with health, safety or welfare concerns.  This role is within the learner and employer services team, and is a pivotal link between delivery teams, safeguarding officers, prevent/safeguarding leads and senior management.

 

Key activities will include establishing learner welfare requirements signposting learners to relevant agencies as required, identifying high risk safety considerations such as radicalisation and e-safety and implementing tactics to keep learners safe.

 

Our successful candidate will have leadership skills and have managed a small team and have extensive experience of identifying those at risk of harm and managing Safeguarding disclosure.  You will have a strong knowledge of Prevent duty to enable recognition of signs of radicalisation and extremist activity and have current DSO training.  

 

We need your excellent knowledge and experience of Ofsted requirements, inspections and ESFA compliance and your excellent track record of consistently meeting targets and objectives within the skills industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive Safeguarding, Prevent and Welfare services working collaboratively with external agencies to keep learners safe and free from harm.
• Provide welfare services to apprentices, trainees and adult learners with health, safety or welfare concerns
• Management of designated safeguarding officers working across the skills pillar ensuring all retain current skills and relevant CPD
• Act as lead DSO, supervising disclosures ensuring the correct support mechanisms are implemented the relevant support agencies are engaged
• Maintain an active directory of up to date DSOs
• Liaise with delivery staff, providing advise and support relating to learner safety and welfare
• Raise awareness of Safeguarding, Prevent and welfare services with all key stakeholders
• Develop and monitor e-safety mechanisms across the learner population
• Stay at the forefront of Safeguarding and Prevent strategies
• Support delivery teams to identify and report learners at risk of harm
• Fully participate in preparation for Ofsted inspection and act as learner welfare representative during inspection
• Provide formulated and consistent reports to senior management team.
• Facilitate knowledge development support teams to embed British values into curriculum
• Work closely with safeguarding, Prevent and quality leads to implement and drive actions within the Quality Improvement plan (QIP)

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Extensive experience of identifying those at risk of harm and managing Safeguarding disclosure
• Current DSO training
• Strong knowledge of Prevent duty to enable recognition of signs of radicalisation and extremist activity
• Experience of signposting to related support agencies
• Experience of developing strategies relating to learner safety
• Experience of British values enrichment in an educational setting
• Track record of implementing learner engagement tactics which support disclosure of all welfare concerns
• Experience of supporting delivery teams to identify safeguarding concerns
• Experience of developing and maintaining effective safeguarding practices
• Experience of reporting to key stakeholders in a formulated and consistent manner
• Excellent knowledge and experience of Ofsted requirements, inspections and ESFA compliance
• Good track record of consistently meeting targets and objectives within the skills industry.
• Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload
• Strong people management and colleague development skills
• Excellent problem solving skills

Desirable:
• Level 3 safeguarding lead qualification or similar
• Experience of managing DSOs
• Track record of embedding a culture of effective safeguarding   

Additional Information

Salary:£31,500  to £38,500  p.a. (dependent on experience) 

Location:  Flexible Location


Hours: 37 hours a week.  Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm and Friday 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.
