Infrastructure Operations Engineer
Job Role
We're hiring for an IT Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our IT Services team, based in Hockley, with hybrid working considered.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional to play a key role in maintaining, securing, and improving the technology platforms that support our business and customers.
In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for maintaining the operational health, security, resilience, and lifecycle of our infrastructure services. You'll work across server, cloud, virtualisation, identity, storage, backup, networking, and Microsoft technologies, ensuring our environments remain secure, compliant, and highly available. You'll take ownership of infrastructure maintenance, patching, vulnerability remediation, disaster recovery testing, and operational improvement initiatives.
Working closely with Service Desk, Cyber Security, Cloud & Infrastructure teams, suppliers, and customers, you'll play a pivotal role in preventing incidents before they occur, resolving complex technical issues, and delivering infrastructure improvements that have a real impact across the organisation.
We're looking for someone with strong technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a proactive mindset. You'll be confident working independently, managing priorities effectively, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we're offering a competitive salary of £47,500 to £52,500 and a fantastic benefits package including:

Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week
Contract: FTC - 12 months

Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and support server, cloud, virtualisation, identity, storage, backup, network, and supporting infrastructure services.
• Deliver infrastructure patching, maintenance, and upgrade activities across multiple platforms.
• Identify, investigate, and remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities and security risks.
• Manage server lifecycle activities including upgrades, migrations, replacements, and decommissioning.
• Monitor backup platforms, perform recovery testing, and contribute to disaster recovery exercises.
• Provide 3rd-line support for complex infrastructure incidents and problem management activities.
• Deliver operational improvement projects and support infrastructure change activities.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational records, and support procedures.
Skills and Experience
• Strong experience in an infrastructure, systems, cloud operations, or senior 3rd-line engineering role.
• Hands-on knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure, Microsoft 365, virtualisation, storage, backup, networking, monitoring, and patching technologies.
• Experience delivering server patching, vulnerability remediation, hardening, and lifecycle upgrades.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills with experience supporting live environments.
• Experience with backup technologies, recovery testing, and disaster recovery processes.
• Excellent organisation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience within an MSP or multi-customer environment would be advantageous.
• Relevant Microsoft, Azure, VMware, backup, networking, or infrastructure certifications are desirable.
