Finance Manager (Remote)

Job Role

We're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of all financial requirements, ensuring seamless support for both the operational and finance teams. You'll play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of open-book contracts, while providing a business-focused finance service to the contract management team. With full accountability for the finance function, this position is pivotal to driving success.

Our ideal candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or fully AAT qualified (Level 4), or alternatively, qualified through experience. Strong proficiency in Excel is essential, and experience in commercial bid modelling for future contracts will be considered a valuable asset. You’ll become a vital part of our successful, customer-focused finance team.

In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we’re offering a competitive salary range of £39,000 - £42,500 pa (dependent on experience) with these great benefits:

Location:   Remote Working/Flexible Location
Hours:   37 hours a week.  Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm
Closing Date:  3 April 2025

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain good working relationship with managers, external partners and other key stakeholders supporting them to meet the requirements of the contract.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Management team to ensure the Finance team provides them with an outstanding service which delivers upon Key Performance Indicators as agreed.
  • Accountable for the accurate and timely delivery of financial reporting, in line with operational and contractual requirements.
  • Working with the Senior Finance Business Partner with the setting, monitoring and delivering financial budgets for specific contracts.
  • Lead on the finance elements of audits where applicable.
  • Ensure Open Book Accounting Returns are submitted on time.
  • Ensure all costs are being correctly attributed to the contract within the finance system, correctly claimed, and that disallowable costs are not being incurred.
  • Deploy and develop robust systems and processes to ensure budget managers are fully accountable and responsible for their areas of operation.
  • Provide Financial bid modelling support when required for future bids.
  • Supporting budget managers, with monthly meetings and regular communications, to meet the requirements of the contract whilst providing clear and concise constructive challenge when reviewing the financial performance across all core business areas.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with both finance and non-finance colleagues, both internally and externally
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience of line management  
  • Strong management accounting skills
  • Maths GCSE grade C or above or equivalent experience
  • Minimum AAT Qualified or qualified by experience
